Legend has it that Remus was buried on the Aventine Hill, the southernmost one among the seven hills of Rome, located between the Tiber, the Caelius and the Palatino. Aventine Hill is also known under the name of Monte di San Sabina. There, the Trajan emperor once constructed his residence, and many temples were erected as well : Temple of Diana, Minerva, Juno… After having gone through the Palatino bridge, which unites the Velabro to the Tiber Island, we enter the Trastevere, one of the oldest quarters in Rome, which still conserves its authenticity of the past, with its small streets, its customs, and its population. Between the Trastevere and the Vatican lies the long hill of Janiculum, a magnificent place to go on a walk to see a great view over Rome. The Janiculum is not included within the seven hills of Rome.
