What is Good Taste? Can someone own it? How?
Through his first attempt at taking over an institutional exhibition space, Dionysios interrogates the very system that creates him, from 12 February to 14 March at Roma Gallery.
The gallery operates as a double agent: it participates in, while simultaneously undermining, the mechanisms of contemporary art. The artwork takes the form of the acquisition of a title. The visitor enters the system. The collector enables it. Rather than presenting artworks for aesthetic consumption, the exhibition shifts its focus to the operation of the institutions themselves: the gallery, curatorial practices, systems of certification, and the market. Gilded certificates of “Good Taste” are offered for sale as proof of institutional validation. The work examines the very process through which value is assigned. The exhibition brings back to the fore what usually remains invisible: the mechanisms of how status is produced. The gallery is revealed as a factory of value, curation as a process of selection and exclusion, and acquisition as the final stage of validation. Good Taste, Dionysios’s exhibition, emerges as a destabilising act of institutional critique. Value is not located in the object itself, but in the mechanisms through which it is constructed and consolidated. In Good Taste, the curator, Alia Tsagkari identifies a “self-referential form of institutional critique that shifts attention away from the object itself towards the conditions through which aesthetic authority is formed, certified, and circulated,” noting that “just as indulgences transformed the salvation of the soul into a bureaucratic document, certificates similarly translate aesthetic cultivation into proof of social power.” As Dionysios observes, “in a society where cultural capital is inherited, visibility is regulated, and recognition often follows nepotism, Good Taste exposes how status circulates. Holding a certificate positions you inside a system that most can only observe.” Each Certificate is unique. It bears a signature, a seal, and a serial number. It circulates exclusively through the Roma Gallery. The number of Certificates is limited. Once acquired, Good Taste ends.

Dionysios is a multidisciplinary artist based between Athens and Paris, whose work merges history, nature, and cultural narratives through installations, sculpture, and digital media. With a background in clinical psychology, he explores identity, time, and memory, using art to question and reshape our relationship with the world. His collaborations with iconic fashion houses during Paris Fashion Week highlight his innovative approach to texture and materiality. He has exhibited internationally at landmark sites, including the Great Pyramids of Giza during Forever is Now by Art d’Égypte, and at Pedion tou Areos in Athens for Plasmata3 by Onassis Foundation. His digital collections have been showcased at the Musée des Archives Nationales during Paris and Shanghai Design Weeks, marking his exploration of the metaverse. His sculptural and design-focused work was also featured during Vima Art Fair, further expanding the intersections of his practice. Committed to social impact, Dionysios partnered with Ecofiltros to create artworks funding clean water solutions in Guatemala. Through his evolving body of work, he bridges history, nature, and cultural identity—challenging boundaries and inviting reflection.
